  • blog tour nyc,' s BlogTour brought a stellar team of design and lifestyle bloggers back to the Big Apple for a second tour this year, this time with focus on ICFF, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, Wanted Design, NYCxDesign Events and Kips Bay Decorator Show House.

With an action packed agenda including its fair share of wonderful private events, BlogTour was, as always, a breathless tour of inspiration, information and wonderful networking opportunities.

The tour began with a meet & greet for the international team of bloggers, many of whom had never met in person, followed by a star studded cocktail event at DXV's Manhattan showroom. Host for the evening was none other than House Beautiful's Editor in Chief Newell Turner and his team and he, along with the fabulous team at DXV and its Design Panel, certainly knew how to draw a crowd. If you've not met the 2014 DXV Design Panel, please meet them here.

Below are some of the highlights from Wanted Design, ICFF, Kips Bay Decorator Show House and a few private events. All images, Chasen West Photography.

Wanted Design

The team spent several hours exploring Wanted Design, an independently owned and operated show, located in the Terminal Stores building on 11th Avenue. Founded by Claire Pijoulat and Odile Hainaut in 2011 this event focuses on creating a dialog between new talent, international artisans and larger brands on one hand and  design lovers and media on the other.

In its 27th year, ICFF is considered one of the most important design events in the US as it brings together exhibitors from North and South America, Europe and beyond. BlogTour had a chance to catch up with favorite British designers in the British pavilion, celebrating its 20th year at the show, and trend spotting throughout the show floor. It was interesting to learn about favorite finds from each team member, reflecting on design trends in their respective home countries of USA, Canada, the UK, Denmark and Holland.

Kips Bay Decorator Show House

This iconic, annual show house benefiting the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club  has always been a treat for design lovers and this year was no exception. A line up of star designers like Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Christpher Peacock, Vicente Wolf and Alexa Hampton transformed the west wing of the New York Palace Hotel into a breathtaking collection of suites and private apartments.

Ancients Baths NYC

A must visit, especially after several days of trade shows and show houses, is one of Manhattan's most incredible spas. Located in the bustling heart of TriBeCa this classically inspired bath house is an unexpected, and most welcome, retreat from the noise and excitement of the streets that surround it. Beautifully designed, the spa features a number of pools that vary in temperature, an invigorating whirl pool, a soothing salt water pool and a large steam room. Massages and other treatments are optional.

Modenus Talks at Christopher Guy

The final event for BlogTour was another round of Modenus Talks on the topic of “From Runway to Runners – The Creative Process in Design” which was lead by a panel of design and fashion experts and hosted at Christopher Guy's iconic showroom in the New York Design Center.

The grand finale – a tour and celebratory dinner at the International Culinary Center in SoHo.

BlogTour's mission is to find great design in all aspects of life and its experiences range from art to design to fashion and, naturally, food and wine. Being able to visit the Culinary Center and having its founder Dorothee Hamilton host the tour personally was a true highlight and could only be outdone by the four course meal that was created and served by students at the school's restaurant L'Ecole, bringing the day and the tour to a marvelous end.

DXV has been a sponsor for both BlogTours to New York City in 2014 and will, once again, support the tour this fall on its first ever road trip along the beautiful California coastline. Please stay tuned for more.
