Meet Kelly Capkovic

Meet Kelly Capkovic, showroom manager and mom-on-the-go, Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery, Chesterfield, MO.

She brings you…
11 years experience in decorative plumbing, lighting and appliances, all at Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery. She discovered the company at a job fair after graduating college with a marketing and business background. “What caught my attention were the people I came into contact with. They were different. They had a passion and a fire behind them.”  Kelly entered the Ferguson Trainee  program and has been hooked ever since. “This is a fun, dynamic, always-changing industry.”

She specializes…
in both residential remodeling and new construction, which has been on the upswing lately.  She also has experience with high-end lofts and apartments.

She will devote time…
to getting to know you before delving into the details of your project. “We’ll have an open-ended discussion which helps guide me to the best way to help you. I’ll ask about the type of project and perhaps your budget. But I don’t ask a lot of questions like ‘what is your style’ because I don’t want to pigeonhole you. After our conversation, we can find the right solutions together.”

She makes it easy…
by helping you focus.  “Our 14,000-sq.-ft. showroom can be overwhelming, but we can lead you right to products that meet your needs, like a tub that will fit your space. This way you aren’t looking at products that won’t work for you.

“We know there’s so much to consider, but take it one step at a time and enjoy the process. We’ll help guide you and take some of the stress off.”

She suggests…
looking at lavatory faucets first because they are the focal point, the first thing you see when you come into the room. “It gives us an idea about style. Then we can stay in the whole collection to get the shower or tub faucets you want, or we can closely match the handle and finish in another line.”

She recommends…
making an appointment with her, and if you are working with a builder, bringing your floor plan and budget allowance, if any.  For any project, it’s also helpful if you have pictures from magazines or Houzz of things you like.

A great option is to go to FergusonShowrooms.com where you can prepare for your visit by checking out bathroom trends and ideas, and searching through product options. You can even start a shopping cart on the site and fill it with items of interest, then send the cart to your consultant to review before the in-person consultation.

She advises…
not all products are built equally. “Especially when you are investing in a remodel, invest in something that will last, not just something that looks pretty. We have the experience to know which products are quality.”

She warns…
against purchasing online and assuming you are getting the same thing for less. “Often you won’t get exactly what you are looking for, or it ships without all the parts. I see this every day. For example, a drain sounds like a simple thing, but there are different sizes, especially with a European product. You might have to have a custom drain built and that can cost a lot of money.”

She encourages…
you to hire a qualified, licensed professional installer, not just the lowest bidder. “Ask about their experience. Have they done a custom shower or a steam shower before?”

She goes beyond…
product selection with personalized service and dependable delivery. That means if there’s ever a problem, you’re not left calling an 800 number. “We’ll do all that behind the scenes for you.” Plus, she can visit your job site to take care of any issues quickly. Dependable deliveries keep your project on schedule. “Our process is excellent thanks to our local warehouses and drivers. And with national warehouses throughout the country, we can pull something quickly for you if it’s not in stock locally.”

She stays on top…
of the fast-changing world of decorative plumbing with weekly training sessions.  “Also our corporate office sends us updates, and associates go to tradeshows and vendor trainings to inform  us of what’s new and trending.” Right now she sees a trend toward gold tones, brushed gold and antique brass in both plumbing and lighting, as well as an emerging industrial vibe in downtown St. Louis.

She likes…
the DXV Golden Era Movement, especially the Fitzgerald. “It’s beautiful, a perfect mix between tradition and modern day. It’s classic and classy.  “One person’s contemporary could be another’s traditional, and Fitzgerald covers a wide spectrum. The freestanding tub makes a great statement piece, and the console sink gives an overall open feeling.”

She appreciates….
all the great people she works with at Ferguson, as well the fun clients she comes to know on a personal level. “I like being a part of making people’s dreams come true,” Kelly says, recalling the time she worked on a home on the eastern shore where the owners commissioned an Italian handmade Carrera sink for their powder room. “It was breathtaking.”

She loves….
spending time with her family. “I have two daughters under four, so I’m quite busy at home. My girls are full of energy, so we are always on the go and have a lot of fun playing outside.”
