Meet Tyra Jones

Meet Tyra Jones, showroom consultant and go-getter, Noland Company, Atlanta GA.

She brings you…
four years of experience in, and enthusiasm for, the decorative plumbing field. After finding her first job via LinkedIn, fascination with the industry kicked in. “I really got into it. A toilet isn’t just a toilet.  And a faucet isn’t just a faucet.  There are so many unique styles and finishes. I love it, it’s so interesting.”

She specializes in…
both residential bath remodeling and new construction.

She recommends…
scheduling an appointment with her, so you can discuss what look you are going for, what finishes you like and what your budget is. “I also like to know where your home is located, because that can influence the look. And I like to know whether you are going to live in the house for the foreseeable future, or plan to sell it, as that can affect the budget.”

She advises…
you to have a team behind you, i.e. a plumber, contractor or designer. “If all you know is ‘I don’t like my shower’ then I suggest you take a step back before looking at products. I can refer you to someone. This way you aren’t getting stuck, lost or confused. You’ll understand what you need. Otherwise you might be looking at a 6’ tub when you really need a 5’. Are you going to tear out a wall? If so, you will need a new valve and trim.”

She cautions…
“the Internet is so big now, a lot of people start their search on line and then go to a big box store, but they don’t understand that as a wholesaler we offer awesome customer service.  If anything ever happens, you aren’t hitting a dead end. We will walk you through every step of the way.  If you bought something on line, there is no one there to assist you, or it can take forever. We can help you right away. I’ve seen people have problems with faucets they bought on line that leak, or the finish has tarnished or the handle fell off.”

She goes above and beyond…
“My cell phone number is on my card. You speak to me. It’s not ‘press 1 for delivery.’  I’ll set up delivery. I’m very hands on with my designers, plumbers and contractors, and am here to answer any questions they might have. I can also be your liaison to tech support when needed. I’m not just here to help you select products.”

She understands…
plumbers like working with familiar products.  “American Standard has been around so long, plumbers are used to it, as opposed to other products. If your plumber has recommended American Standard, we reassure them that DXV is part of American Standard so they will be familiar with the valves.”

She likes…
the DXV Contemporary and Modern Movements.  She’s particularly fond of the Lyndon tub, for its simple elegance and restrained contemporary look. And she’s a big fan of REM Collection, with its Dutch modernist, sensual human-focused design.

She knows…
what it takes to  keep a big project on track.  She’s been working for a year with a family on a new home with seven bathrooms plus the kitchen. “They relied on me to tell them what was best and what they should have. There’s a lot of back and forth, and you have to be very very organized and detail oriented, to not miss anything. I’ve done many visits to the job site. It’s been a fun, hands on project. I can’t wait to see it all finished.”

She appreciates…
that more of her customers are moving to transitional even in a traditional market like Atlanta. “I show people you can still get curves, but not 1960s curves. If you are doing a facelift, why not move it up one step and go more transitional?”

She’s passionate about…
traveling.  When she’s not working, she’s hitting the road, from Texas to LA to New York. “I went to New York right after New Year’s for shopping. It’s my shopping town! And saw The Color Purple which was fabulous.”

You go girl!
